Backbone Hillclimb

After many years since the countryside of Inman Valley went quiet from the sounds of motorsport Hillclimb SA was able to bring back competition along the well known stretch of Mt Alma Road in 2023.

Two great events were held in 2023 and 2024 with some fierce competition. Unfortunately the Backbone Hillclimb will not take place in 2025. This decision comes after extensive discussions with Motorsport Australia regarding the track licensing requirements for our event. Motorsport Australia have provided us with  safety requirements - upgrades required at the track these have arisen due to a series of incidents across the sport this year. 

 

Specifically, we need to undertake extensive improvements to the Armco barriers at the track. We are actively engaging with the local council and other stakeholders to secure the necessary support and funding for these upgrades. This process is complex and ongoing, and while it has delayed our plans, we are committed to meeting these challenges head-on.

We want to assure you that this is not the end of the Backbone Hillclimb. 
Our team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event can return in 2026, safer and better than ever. We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time. Your passion for this event motivates us to push forward, and we are excited about the future. Together, we can bring our beloved Hillclimb back to the motorsport calendar.
